When it comes to inspiring others, we always follow our role models. It is important to get motivated every day. In other words, real-life leadership can be found in mundane actions rather than following extraordinary measures.
We can not link leadership style only to businesses; even PM Narendra Modi, Boris Johnson, or ex-US President Barack Obama set the leadership example. Through their leadership, they took their nation ahead during the pandemic and overall country growth.
Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern’s leadership impressed last year when she confirmed that the Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy were crucial workers, so they would visit New Zealand’s children undisturbed by the pandemic.
There’s a reason this story was reported by news agencies globally… it connected with people. Your ability to communicate with your team, colleagues, and those around you makes you an inspirational and a great leader, not your job status.
Here are 7 tips for tapping into those experiences and lessons.
1. Trust yourself, even if you’re not ready for a change
One of the biggest challenges of being a leader is sitting in the discomfort of a new experience. Making a career change or a unique business opportunity can be intimidating in executive leadership roles. We often ask ourselves, “why would I leave the stability of my current role” or “what if this doesn’t work out?” Always remember that if you want to continue with the comfort, you can not grow; therefore, have faith in your ability and be ready for a change.

2. Be positive
Of course, positivity is the primary thing every leader wants to carry along with them. But leaders need to be conscious of being over-positive. This is known as Leadership in the academic literature; the tendency to portray everything as rosy and the reluctance to consider alternative voices.
Even when things are difficult, honesty builds mutual trust and respect. So, don’t lose your calmness and be positive in every situation.
3. Formalize your experience
There is no magic stick or checklist that makes a good leader.
Leadership is all about experience and understanding. Although the most outstanding Business Leader’s skills can not be taught, by time and experience, a new leader is formed. Even natural leaders fail sometimes, but they don’t give up.

Developing your leadership skills means taking on more projects which leads to responsibility. Stepping out of your comfort zone is the only way you will learn anything new, and doing so will get you noticed by executives as someone who takes the initiative.
5. Empower your teammates
No one is the best at everything, and the sooner you realize that, the sooner you can learn to be a good leader. Assigning tasks to others frees you up for things you do well and empowers other people on your team.
6. Resolve conflicts
Don’t be a manager with an attitude; keep the communication flow with all team members. Instead of ignoring interpersonal conflicts and hoping they will be solved, address them by talking to those involved privately. Also, be open to reassigning team members if the dispute can’t be resolved.
7. Be a good listener
Becoming a leader doesn’t mean always having to instruct and be in the spotlight. A good leader always listens to ideas and suggestions from other people.
Good listeners know that communication is not only about words but picking up on non-verbal cues, such as eye contact and body language.
Good leadership skills are important to advancing your portfolio, but as you can see, leadership is much more than simply being in charge. As American statesman John Quincy Adams said, “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more, and become more, you are a leader.”
